History

The Stoner Cemetery was established in 1837 on land provided by the Stoner family which is a pioneer family in Clark Township of Montgomery County. The first burial was Nancy Routh w/o J. August 17, 1837, 49y 8mo 7d. It is a small 3 1/2 acre plot of ground on a quiet country road on 900S just 1/2 mile east of 650 E which turns south off 234 as one drives east out of Ladoga. It is the final resting place of 16 veterans including 12 Civil War Veterans (two Confederate), three WW II vets and one post WWII. The prominent families buried there are the Ottermans (31), Stoners (22), Peffleys (16), Cooks (16), and Mills (15).
